The following courses are available across the North West of England
Emergency
First Aid (Appointed Person)
This one-day course can be delivered in 6 - 8 hours and meets all the requirements for the 'Appointed Person'. It is the ideal short course for all those working in situations where immediate first aid might be needed, but where an ambulance might reasonably be expected in 10 minutes or less. The course therefore suits most staff in shops, restaurants, offices, schools and colleges etc.
Paediatric First Aid
This 12 hour course is delivered over two days and is a requirement for all schools and nurseries accepting children under 8 years of age. There is a requirement that children under 8 years will have access to a Paediatric First Aider at all times, so sufficient numbers must be trained to cover day trips etc as well as in-school. This course meets all the requirements of OFSTED and the EYF.
Outdoor First
Aid
A 16 hour course delivered over two days designed especially for those working in more remote outdoor settings such as farms and Parks, stables etc. This course is also recognised by all of the National Governing Bodies for outdoor pursuits and activity centres and is therefore the most appropriate First Aid qualification for Mountain Leaders, Caving Leaders, Rock Climbers, and outdoor education staff. This course is QCA recognised and appears on the National Qualifications Framework.
First Aid for Sport
Designed specifically for those who participate in and supervise organised sports, this First Aid course of 14 hours provides specific guidance on the treatment of sports injuries and includes consideration of 'return to play' decisions that have to be made in competitive sports. This course is recognised by Sports Governing Bodies and is the course of choice for coaches and trainers and for the staff of sports clubs and leisure centres. This course is QCA recognised and appears on the National Qualifications Framework.
First Aid at Work (FAW)
The traditional 4 day First Aid at Work course covering the whole syllabus of the HSE. The course can be adapted to recognise the context specific needs of your workplace.
